WYLDER
Wylder is the fruition of a dream I had many years ago of slowing down and creating perfumes in the long-forgotten ways - through enfleurage, tinctures, ferments. Through time spent with the plants, on the land.
More pure, more connected, more authentic to the joy I feel smelling actual flowers and trees in bloom than I often felt in a bottle of commercial perfume.
The last four years, along with birthing Be Wyld Child, I have been gathering flowers, roots and leaves in this sacred valley and transforming them using these centuries-old perfumery techniques.
This archive of scent will slowly be released and some will be offered up for adoption. These are laborious practices, quite the opposite of how wildly available commercial oils and essences are made today. And each essence captures a particular time and place, similar to a wine vintage, each perfume year will vary depending on bloom and soil, weather and moisture and all other factors that effect plants.
These processes have allowed me the opportunity to capture real plants in ways that feel so much more connected to the source and scent memories I carry and treasure.
Each one of these processes can take months, or years, and are precious as they carry both the slow care of collecting hundreds of blossoms for each and the memory of the plants – what they've seen and lived. In being with plants and trees day-after-day and over the span of years, our energy is exchanged and I capture their memories, their triumphs and hardships and the wisdom and healing they long to share.
In a time where people are speeding up and everything seems rapidly available to everyone, Wylder is about slowing down and breathing with the plants, in nature and giving them a chance to communicate with people in special ways.
When anointing yourself with Wylder captures, you are carrying around a sacred plant signature, similar to how you might savor the writings or recipes, handwriting or scent of someone you love. These plant signatures capture a sacred connection and they are enlivening to live with.
Welcome to Wylder
